Robinhood and Susquehanna Acquire LedgerX to Expand in Prediction Markets
Robinhood Markets and Susquehanna Group have jointly acquired 90% of LedgerX, a regulated cryptocurrency exchange, from Miami International Holdings. The deal positions Robinhood to capitalize on the growing prediction markets sector, with LedgerX's regulatory licenses providing a foundation for futures and derivatives trading.
The acquisition grants Robinhood access to critical Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO) certifications. These licenses will enable the launch of a new futures and derivatives exchange, slated to begin operations in 2026 with a focus on event-driven crypto contracts.
Miami International Holdings retains a 10% stake in LedgerX, which will operate as a separate entity under Robinhood's majority ownership. While financial terms remain undisclosed, the MOVE signals Robinhood's strategic push into innovative crypto derivatives products.
